Ever been in a new social situation and not know what was 
going to happen? This is the same apprehension that many 
new patients face on their first visit to your office. 

Reduce their feelings of uncertainty by creating a coversheet 
on your letterhead for your admitting paperwork. Outline your 
typical first visit procedures. Include a simple sentence or 
two describing the purpose of each procedure new patients
encounter. Here's a head start:

     "Welcome! Here's what you can expect during the next 
     ___ minutes on your first visit to our office:

     "Paperwork. Please complete this simple admitting paper-
     work so we have an understanding of your past and current 
     health situation.

     "Consultation. Meet the doctor and discuss your health 
     concerns. Let's find out if you're a good candidate for 
     chiropractic care.

     "Examination. We'll conduct a thorough examination to 
     locate the cause(s) of your problem so we can develop a 
     plan to help you." 

Continue the process for the other procedures new patients 
typically experience on their first visit. It's a great way 
to reduce anxiety, honor the patient, anticipate their 
concerns, increase cooperation and offer hope.
