From: Dr. Rick Wren .. 1-21-00 .. wren@texoma.net Dear Colleagues and Friends, this past weekend I attended the Parker Seminar in Las Vegas. It was a wonderful experience. It started on Thursday with Wayne Dyer(Erroneous Zones) and ended on Saturday with Mark Victor Hansen(Chicken Soup for the Soul). In between there were speakers like Larry Markson, Dennis Permian, David Singer, Noel LLoyd, and etc. The Presidents of the ICA and ACA(Bob Hoffman and James Mertz) also were on the program. The theme for the seminar was Unity within the Proffesion. Wayne Dyer started the tone of the seminar with a 2 hour presentation on the transition from ego to spiritual. He was discussing how we start out when we are younger operating from our egos(look at me). Then as we experience life we have the oppurtunity to transition to operate from our spiritual side(I appreciate you and love you and overlook your faults).I could really relate to this because I use to operate from my Ego. I Can remember in 1985, I sent a letter to Dr. James W. Parker requesting that I speak on his program. I had been in practice for 5 years and had been seeing 100 a day for about 3 years. I had been to about 24 Parker Seminars and it was the only Practice management training I had been involved in. Well he very politely said thanks, but no thanks. He said that I could become a Parker Management Consultant and work with Chiropractors one on one. So I volunteered my time at every Parker I attended and helped hundreds of chiros, one at a time. I got so involved in helping, I no longer cared if I spoke on the Program. Around 1988 Dr. Jim surprized me and asked If I would speak on "educating the patient". Thats where my speaking began and have been speaking every since. You see Dr. Jim knew I was operating from my Ego in 1985 and he was right. I wanted to get on stage and stick my thumbs in my suspenders and say "look at me". When he asked me to speak in 1988, I had transitioned more to my spiritual side. I had another major transition after I went on the first trip to Panama with Dr. Jim Sigfoose(there were 19 of us who adjusted 46,000 people in 6 days). That transition allowed my practice to grow from 350\week to 450\week and I was only scheduling adjustments 22.5 hours per week. Ask yourself some questions. Does it irritate you when people stink? Does it bother you when people dress weird? Do you go out of your way to avoid ugly people? Do you judge people? If the answer is yes to any of these, you are probably operating more from your Ego. If you are operating totally from your spiritual side you wont even notice if they stink, dress weird, appear ugly, and you deffinitely will not judge them. So let your Ego go and let your Spiritual Side Grow, and watch your personal and proffesional life grow. LLL, Dr. Rick Wren(Founder of Society of Chiropractic Masters).
