Chiropractic connection program at chiro-connect.com .. Two tables for sale E-mail message this week .. what now I just finished teaching a seminar as well as completed an article for Chiropractic Products magazine concerning the Analysis of an Office and Looking for Lost and Hidden Income. There may be so many leaks within your office of income producing products and services that a few office procedure adjustments would assist your bottom line immensely. Today .. I would like to focus on one aspect of income and practice/patient management and that is the maintenance patient. Patients come to us for help and when educated correctly will see the value of supporting their care to date and prevent further instability and deterioration. Poor practice management may prevent a patient from continuing with supportive care as well as assisting you with a ready cash flow. As a business and professional within the healthcare community .. you are obligated to offer your patients the ability to continue feeling well as well as managing their structural instability. With a reasonable financial incentive to maintain their care to date .. they will continue being in sight and mind. Do you think this is ill advised .. well .. how many adjustments have you had this year. I suspect you and your family have maintained your spinal care .. why .. because you understand the reality of not doing so .. I hope you are telling your patients as well. Review your patient procedures concerning last scheduled visits. Do they finish and leave or are they re-evaluated and offered options towards maintenance or further supportive care. If you have no established pattern for the conclusion of care let me offer some direction. First .. and as important .. every patient should be released correctly not by happenstance. They should be evaluated and your recommendations should be discussed. In terms of risk management .. malpractice .. it is never wise to abandon a patient without some direction and notation in their chart. For this reason alone you should have some procedure to discuss final scheduled visits with them. Second .. they should review their options. Do they wish continued care within a more structured schedule or scheduled maintenance visits less frequent. Hopefully .. you have been discussing progress all along and may wish they return more often to continue assisting them with further stability and biomechanical integrity. Let them hear your opinion and decide based on their knowledge not your greed. If their progress has been as expected and they would benefit from monthly care offer this as well. If the majority of your patients return for maintenance care consider the benefits both to you them.
