Tables and equipment for sale E-mail message this week .. Weather the Storm I wrote an e-mail message a few years back concerning the Chicken Little Syndrome. If you remember the story of Chicken Little, he would run around town yelling the sky is falling, the sky is falling. Obviously, he was a messenger of doom and gloom and today, we find some colleagues placing similar fears in many of us. I know of some veteran doctors expressing the negatives of business to students and impressionable new graduates making their new journey a bit frightening. The sky may not be falling but insurance reimbursement is, new patient numbers might be, and statistics of average patient visits etc may be sliding as well. It might be tougher to reactivate missed appointments and trying to get patients to comply might be a burden too. We are not immune to the sliding economy and when choices are made between filling the car with gas, braces for kids and other sundry variety of necessities, we might be on the short end. Oh wow, sounds like doom and gloom to me. But É If you were one of my lucky students at Life University from 1995-1999 and bought and read my Smart Start textbook, you can still purchase it via my webstore, you'll remember that one of the last class lectures concerned your future investments and savings. Even at this early phase of your professional career the wise path included a journey towards retirement, savings and goal planning. If you followed my lead, you regularly set aside money for taxes, retirement and daily living while keeping debt to a minimum. You purchased equipment and made business decisions based on planning rather than emotion and maintained your professional prowess with seminars and educational programs. So, naturally, if you presently live day-by-day and hand to mouth with little financial cushion or your investment savings have not been diversified finding the stock market eating a chunk of it while bills keep accumulating with a lesser stream of income, you may naturally feel the sky is falling. The answer to this dilemma is not to dwell deeper into the Chicken Little Syndrome but to look towards the future by weathering this economic storm and diversifying your business and planning for a steadier future. A revamped patient report of findings with further wellness enhancing services may offer increased income. This might include rehabilitation, nutrition or therapy or whatever your services lack and you feel comfortable adding. You may broaden your recommendations with extended treatment and maintenance plans and offering flexible payment plans to include more patients. Your office may need to tighten financial discussions towards cash rather than insurance dependence, by increasing communications skills and being all on board towards patient goals and the value of chiropractic care. I hope this e-mail reaches your office full of patients, being as economically sound as ever and scratching your head wondering what all the tough time fuss is about. This is my wish for everyone. But, if you are amongst those this e-mail has rung true, I hope you hang in there and consider some of the suggestions I wrote above. We are all chiropractic brothers and sisters and therefore should share in the common theme of prosperity. To this end, I will again add to the Marketing section of my webpage with ideas and suggestions from you. If you have creative holiday and event ideas, better ways to promote your practice, maintain patients, financially offer sound plans as well as market your practice in both tough and great times, please send it to me so I can copy it onto my webpage for others to benefit. Sharing is Caring and via this forum, there is no competition between offices, just good ideas. Hang in there this economic storm shall also pass Have a Great Day Dr. M Postings: Dr. Joel E.
