Q: Dr. M, I was wondering if you had any tips as to start and then maintain relationships w/ doctors and lawyers for referrals that surround your (my) practice area. The doctor i work w/ seems to be grasping at straws in this area and has sent out letters to no response at all. I have heard people say "send them a shoe w/ a letter that says "now that i got one foot in the door......" but i honestly don't know even where to start w/ something like this. Any advice would be appreciated. A: Thanks for the e-mail .. I think you own my Smart Start Book ..if you do be sure to look through it for the alliance information. I have many letters and scripts to follow for both attorney and MD's alliances. Also .. ask your patients to bring in the insurance provider books and begin a data base of their gatekeepers .. and send a letter to them as well. As far as the attorneys .. send them material on a monthly basis .. a simple newsletter of sorts. just get your name out there. Take a few minutes scrolling through my webpage under practice Tips and Cyberconsulting. I know there are some answers to your questions there as well. If you don't have my PI Workshop Workbook .. you should Have a Great Day Dr. M Below are letters I just sent out last week. Obviously it won't apply to you .. but it'll give you an idea where to start. picked up the MD names from the provider books and the attorney list from the yellow pages.
