Screenings can be very lucrative .. in fact you can always hire some CA or dedicate a patient to (wo)man a booth if on-going programs materialize. First step is to tap into a charity .. which you alraedy have. But .. be sure to have a letter on their letterhead advising everyone that you are approved to collect funds for them. If you contact a place and show them this endorsement letter .. it opens more doors. Second step is to collect your thoughts and write clearly the purpose of the screenings and what you will be doing .. prepare it in outline fashion: A) General advice concerning Wellness and Health B) Conservative evaluations if requested with conservative advice given 1) table with three chairs 2) display of articles and handouts concerning wellness and preventive health tips 3) display of muscles and nerves to explain and answer questions from the community Third step is to meet with the representative of the place .. let¼s say a Walmart. Walk in with the prepared stuff above and ask for the manager or asst. manager. „Hi, my name is Dr. Smith and I¼m a local chiropractor .. do you have a minute? Great, part of my community outreach program is spending time within our community. As a chiropractor, the best way to meet people in our community is via Stress and Postural Screenings. I do these in conjunction with the United Way .. here is a letter of endorsement. I have an informational table where I display articles and flyers concerning various health issues .. such as headaches .. stress .. exercise .. Also, I do simple postural and stress screenings that allow me to provide some conservative advice .. such as exercises and nutrition. If a person wishes to further evaluate their problem they are invited to our office but there is a charge for this evaluation .. the fee going to the local charity. The fee is usualy $15. In fact, which local or national charity does Walmart assist? Great, well I can contact them and we can both work for their benefit. How does that sound?¾ If they agree: „Also, the best program I offer to our local corporations and retail stores is my ergonomic workshops. I have a number of them but the most popular is our Safety at the Workplace .. which is geared towards material handlers .. such as stock room and what you have going on here. I go over the dynamics of proper posture and work habits. The purpose is to increase employee awareness and therefore increase their productivity and decrease their amount of downtime. The other program is Staying Fit While You Sit .. this is for clerical employees. There is generally no charge for these initial programs. I know your employees will benefit from them .. and we can work around getting everyone involved over a period of time. So ... first step is to set up a time for the community screenings .. how is next Saturday from 11-3. Great .. why don¼t we lock in the same time every two weeks and see how it goes. Great. Now, for the ergonomic classes .. when does the shift change¾ ..and go from there This is the best way to get in .. but remember to always get letters of thanks so you can show others about your great work. and be aware that you need to lock in many of these. Cold calls and meetings are okay .. just go there and expect to win
