Prepare Your Future Unless you have been hiding in a deep cave or placed your head under the pillow, you probably read or heard the doom and gloom of our present and immediate future. There is no escape whether you live in the states or the other 32 countries this e-mail reaches, our economies are in a dive, inflation looms around the corner and a recession or depression is in the offering depending who is offering their opinion. Nonetheless, a prudent and proactive doctor will take this opportunity to reevaluate their practice, their community and their immediate and long-term plans to weather any and all storms. Worse yet, I just read on the Drudge Report that a stunning light display over Saturn has stumped scientists who say it behaves unlike any other planetary aurora known in our solar system. What's next? Truth be told, hang in there. As always provide a better service to your patients, work from within to build a strong referral source, reach out to your community via your presence by providing workshops, screenings, informational material and meeting allied healthcare and other professionals. Nothing has changed, just a closer watch on these programs and a closer grasp to determine if money and time spent has been cost and time effective. So, doctor do you have a plan or is your practice and psyche on borrowed time? There is no time like the present to protect and manage your future. If you have doubts about your financial strength, you better get advice or hunker down, regroup and determine your spending and borrowing habits. Our economy is sustained via commerce. The fair exchange of money must flow for every segment of society to have a share. When one segment, and in today's climate many segments feel threatened, their hunkering down is holding cash and determining the value of each purchase and using a tier system on whether to spend. Is your chiropractic office a great value both financially and via results? I hope so or your practice will be the first they place on the "later" side of the ledger. I recommend your next staff meeting have more substance, an open dialogue between doctor and staff evaluating every procedure determining if there is a block for patients and your community. A stifling entity that allows patients to slip through the proverbial cracks, not pay on their accounts, constant missed opportunities within the community to generate new patients and office procedures that seem to have been forgotten but need to be revisited. Doctors, this is no time to be lazy or complacent. If the storm has not trickled down to your office, it will and planning today for a readied office is the only prudent thing to do. Economics 101 will dictate success of many but those extending their knowledge and application with Economics 201 will thrive, weather the economic storm and prosper, as they should. Doom and Gloom .. no. Prepare Your Future .. Yes Have a Great Day Dr. M PS: Read this message from Dr Brad Anchors of Atlanta for a more positive point of view: From Dr. Brad Anchors: Dr. Anchors is the guiding light for the EPOC (EPICENTER OF CHIROPRACTIC) seminars in Atlanta. There are regular meeting throughout the year. I recommend you contact Dr. Anchors at: purposedc@gmail.com to learn how your area can create an EPOC meeting. This was his e-mail message the other day: As I listened on a conference call yesterday with about 300 chiropractors discussing Practice Tactic During an Economic Meltdown, I was enthusiastic about how chiropractic will not only survive but thrive during these rough times. A poll was taken and it showed that roughly 40% were mildly affected by the economy, 10% not affected at all and that 20% were growing and building their practices during these times. We talked about 10 key characteristics of all successful doctors. Here they are: 1) A clear foundational philosophy 2) A strong sense of purpose 3) Consistently positive attitude 4) Passion for what you do 5) High level of certainty 6) Highly effective and efficient procedures 7) Know how to hire and train a top notch team 8) Well thought out economic model for the practice 9) Master of finance and money management 10) Crystal clear vision that you see everyday.
