Our business revolves around numbers .. numbers of patients .. staff .. equipment .. size of office .. years in practice .. insurance plans .. fees .. profit and loss. Donžt be too impressed with the huge single or multi doctor clinic .. they may be huge in numbers but short in profit. A sound businessman/woman knows to invest their time and energy toward profit and accumulation where hard work today will pan out toward an easy time down the road. Overhead is checked to reduce waste and poor performance. Staff income is scrutinized to account for their production and usefulness within the office. Marketing projects are reviewed and continued or shelved dependent on results or timely follow through. Patient acquisition is directed internally to use the abundance of energy generated by a happy office (oh .. you do have a happy office .. donžt you?) Equipment is purchased wisely. Is it necessary for patient care or just a tool to make a few extra bucks .. will insurance reimburse or must you sell the sizzle .. will it drain the budget and frustrate the staff or produce enlightened patients and impressed employees. Deciding on these factors helps to consolidate steady growth and/or eliminate redundant and useless waste. There is a lifecycle of a professional. Besides the school of practical and hard knocks .. chiropractors must be willing to step outside their comfort zone and confront the publicžs doubts and fears. They must reach deep within their soul to feel the need to share and let the words flow from the heart. Scripts get you started but the tone is all you. Financially most struggle to break out of their protective shells as they leap from poverty to a few extra shekels to throw around. Remaining the same in a comfort zone only forces retreat from forward movement where many dwindle on the vine. This may be you or those you know. The next step is crucial to sustaining a financially successful career. Frugally and with foresight .. they make decisions. Concerned with the bottom line they draw a line in the sand and will not fall back. Going forward they educate their patients .. ask for referrals and expect to hear from them .. provide an excellent service and charge a reasonable fee. Their office environs grow as they meet the capacity need. Their support staff increases as service is meeting the demand. Overhead is carefully screened and every penny is accounted for. Business success stems from knowledge and intuition. Seminars and consultants abound to help. Not asking and lingering is of no fault but yours. A sound businessperson allocates money to improve infrastructure both within the building and within the mind. Planned outlines are plotted as well as visual goals. Strategic Plans are written up while success concepts are planted in your cerebral matrix. Financial outlines are reviewed regularly and tweaked when necessary. Profit and loss charts are reviewed .. financial accountability is ascertained .. goals and action steps are coordinated .. staff training and patient education is set aside .. this is the key to success. A successful doctor realizes that upgrading knowledge and equipment is part of the trade and necessary to keep the spirit and purpose of chiropractic alive. Sharing chiropractic with staff and listening to their needs will propel you to the next level. Having compassion and firmness with patient compliance offers increased profits while adding to the wellness of your community. Many huge and small clinics are run efficiently and profitably. These doctors have their act together. Not everyone can accomplish this or feel comfortable with the flow and hard work. Donžt feel less successful with what you have just be smart and profit and accumulate with what you have left.
