Looking for an exam doctor in Atlanta .. Practice Boosting seminar in Atlanta area .. Anti-Vaccine Programs in PA .. Looking for a previous NYCC required text .. Advertising at its best .. New Patients Program .. Political message from Drs. Matia and Maxine McMullen for ICA President and Vice President E-mail message this week: micro-management Think about it .. if the human body was micro-managed nothing would get done correctly and on time. The Heart would request its share of attention while the Kidney would fight with the Liver. Good thing that health comes from above down and inside out with the brain and nervous system being in charge and allocating what must be done in proper fashion. As chiropractors we realize that specific interference .. a subluxation .. can reduce the flow of proper nerve energy and place the body at risk .. literally stifling the human potential. This is also true with a healthy business. The brain of the operation must be the owner .. in our case .. the doctor. The organs .. staff and/or patients .. rely on our ability to adapt and manage their specific needs and complaints with the ultimate goal of Health and Wellness. The office subluxation usually stems from us. Typically .. we may hire uptone and caring staff .. ready to implement programs .. request patient referrals .. keep the flow of patients on an even keel .. and much more. But sadly .. how often have you .. like me .. attempted to micro mange every segment of office production that we drained all the life out of each staff member and found production wanting and caring lacking. This morning I was reading a small article within either Forbes or Fortune magazine. The story concerned Mr. Woolworth .. famous for his Woolworth stores. Seems he was ill for awhile and while returning to health he decided that he was micromanaging his business and life excessively and felt unnecessary stress as a result. His solution was simple .. if he couldn廠 find someone to do something that he probably didn廠 need to do .. he would not have it done. Doctor .. take a moment and determine what areas of office production you haven廠 let go .. what areas of office production you can hand over to the CA or other staff members .. what areas of office production can best for shared with your staff and you reducing personal and collective stress. With pad in hand determine each component of your office .. from front desk to last scheduled visit. Who does what? Who asks for referrals .. who discusses fees and makes financial arrangements .. who schedules workshops and actually does them .. who creates community alliances .. who writes specific marketing letters and follows up with phone calls .. who does the birthday lists .. the thank you notes and calls .. follows up with patient progress and surveys? Who conducts the staff meetings .. reviews the office statistics .. calls the insurance providers and follows the EOB廣? If your name is attached to each and every segment .. you not only have micro managed and strangled your practice growth .. but you have stifled the collective creative juices of a great team .. your staff. Pay attention to this .. train and delegate .. then train and delegate again. Have a Great Day Dr. M Postings this week: Practice for Sale in NY: Practice for Sale- Riverdale, Bronx,N.Y.
