There is some truth to this, but only a part of the success equation. We all know doctors quite successful in less visible locations and clinics of various sizes. It's not the location as much as the exposure the doctor provides. In many urban cities, clinics are located on the fifth floor of an office building with little sign exposure and parking. They are as successful as the practice on the main road in a freestanding building with a huge sign close to the road. Exposure is more than a sign and physical building but how the doctor gets his message out and how easy it is to find their office and the mechanics of becoming a new patient. But, to get that message out it's important to have your finger of the pulse of your patients and community while providing them the material necessary to create awareness and activity. Doctor, if I visited your office and asked you to provide me specific promotional material could you find it quickly or would you have to dig deep to either locate it or create something? What would you find; an welcoming office brochure, a welcome to the office letter, spinal care instructional forms, exercises and daily living advice, office mission statement with doctor and patient responsibilities, financial plans or whatever you want the community to learn about your technique or philosophical purpose. If you have little or none of these, then get busy. If you have something like this, then review and make them stronger. If you have them, have you discussed this with your staff and had everyone on board. But most important, where are they and are they in a specific location for easy and quick access. Set aside time to gather your educational programs from office workshops to knee to knee education. Plan when they are used and keep to the program. Be sure that every form and letter is within reach and every staff member knowledgeable when they are used and how to implement them. Location, location, location. It's more than a building, it's where the knowledge resides.
