Chiropractic Billing and Account Receivables Management E-mail message this week: Let go of old baggage Baggage is tough to carry when you are already loaded down. During this holiday season spend a few moments searching through your baggage to lighten your load. This is the perfect time to reflect on your personal and professional baggage and decide what needs to go and what can be enhanced for the New Year. If you have been creative, your practice has probably expanded with patient services and volume. But, if you have done nothing and diligently wait for the phone to ring with new patients, you are most likely frustrated. Your personal life may have a number of incomplete cycles with many roads to cross, but if you usually stare at the junction and never go forward, expect your professional life to be the same. We are coming to a New Year, a perfect time for change. I know you've heard the phrase "a cry from the wilderness." If you want to lighten your load, start by listening to that voice within. Take a moment sit in a quiet place relax, close your eyes now listen. The hectic pace of practice or the frustration of not having enough to do can really drag you down physically and emotionally. Let's make a pledge to clean the mess and clear the air for our New Year. Concentrate on creating a personal and professional purpose. A purpose that will keep you on track because you had created specific policies that keeps you on purpose. Write these down, find areas that need spot tweaking and those that need radical change. Toss out programs that didn't work, the promises that weren't kept, the incomplete cycles that added frustration, just get rid of this baggage today and analyze why too often your practice life is in the realm of woulda and shoulda. Write action steps and place a timeline next to them. How will you change, who will help you? How can you implement it, what specifically will make it easier to implement? Who is accountable, is there a way to measure results and is there a built in reward system, for achieving your goals? Be careful to make these goals easy to reach. Baby steps is the way to go. Spend time reviewing what you did this year. Have you been active or reactive, has your phone rang with new patients because you created awareness or just by luck, is your staff team players or do they hold you back, has the time been spent in seminars and has consulting paid off or are you not implementing? Review this with your staff. In 2007 we can plan together a renewed spirit towards our personal and professional lives. Consolidate your thoughts and sharpen your creative juices, if you let go, get rid of some baggage, you will begin the new journey lighter, quicker on our feet and ready to rock and roll in 2007. Have a Great Day Dr. M Below is a Christmas jingle that has been around for years. If you have none, print it up, change the names and add this to your Christmas cards. Chiropractic Christmas 2006 T¹was the day before Christmas but there was no cheer No jingle bells jingled, no sound of reindeer The word had got out that Santa was sick There¹d be no friendly visit from jolly St. Nick The people were sad; no gaiety sounded. For Christmas had come, but Santa was grounded. He walked down the street, but what should he see On a small sign was, Dr. Joel E. Margolies, D.C. Now Santa was not one to like a new tactic, But all else had failed, so he1¹d try Chiropractic. He entered the office and saw at a glance In place such as this illness hasn1ˇ4t a chance. For all were smiling; the music was snappy. With all the patients contented and happy. In a very short time, to judge by the clock. He was in the adjusting room, talking to Doc. "It must be the hurry, the tension and all. I simply can1ˇ4t seem to get on the ball. Life used to be easy, just toys, guns, and whistles. Now I have to dodge fall-out, space ships, and missiles." "And Doc, take a look at the size of this pack!" "Have you any idea what it does to my back?" Poor Santa was miserable, just barely able With the help of Dr. Joel, Christina, Aviva, Heather to get to the table. Dr. Margolies was gentle. Without fuss or tussle He examined the vertebrae and relaxed the muscle. He spotted the trouble, and then with a click, Started aligning the ailing St. Nick. And Santa felt aches and pains slipping away. In no time at all he began to feel gay. The air was a tingle with a new fallen snow, And a healthy Kris Kringle was rarin1ˇ4 to go. As he went out the door, he threw all a kiss Why, it has been centuries since he1ˇ4d felt as good as this! Then once more he shouldered the bagfull of toys, His heart overflowing with true Christmas joys, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND TO ALL A GOOD YEAR!! Postings: Dr. Joel E.
