The answer lies with the word It .. what is It? A common theme within my weekly e-mails is patient education. Our ability to provide and explain It began while we were students in chiropractic school with our trials and tribulations getting and keeping our clinic patients. We were hostages of the institutions we decided to attend with teachers providing what It was to them. Their commitment to It molded their students making It easy or not to convince people from the streets, literally this is where I went, to come to the school clinic, wade through yards of paper work and sit and wait until a clinic doctor was able to process my time with them. My enthusiasm of It was so overwhelming that enough people followed my lead helping me through the requirements to graduate. But, was It enough to create and maintain a successful practice? I suspect that It relies on what It is to you. Can you easily discuss It and describe It and do you have enough illustrations and physical props to promote It. Can you search the web to dig up relationships between the world of commerce, sports, micro-trauma, health and wellness and relate It all to Chiropractic. Creating and maintaining a viable and healthy practice falls back to how each patient relates their concerns with It. Short and sweet .. lets all get on with It. I have been selected to participate in Clinic Abroad in Morocco, Africa, February 23rd to March 6th. I know that you, like me, can imagine what a great opportunity this is for a student doctor. There are fifteen students from my school that were selected. Thirteen students qualified for financial aid to help defer their costs. Unfortunately I am one of the two who didnšt receive any financial aid whatsoever. This clinic experience will cost $5,400.00 which I will be fully responsible for. Išm hoping to receive $1,000 in work study money after the trip which will make the trip cost $4,400. The problem is that I thought I would be receiving financial aid like everyone else, it didnšt happen! For this reason I am sending everyone this letter to see how much the Chiropractic Community can help me out. Išm asking you to donate the cost of one adjustment (or anything you can) to help cover my costs. Any donations I receive over and above the actual cost of the trip will be donated to the New Beginnings Student Fund. I will be graduating in August 2006, and am excited to be part of your community. With your help I promise to keep chiropractic pure and to give back to our Chiropractic community the same manner you have, keeping the dream alive Reply to: Josh Handt at: joshhandt@yahoo.com Neurodevelopmental disorders lecture at LUCC: HANDLE Institute, sponsored by the LUCC campus neurology Club will be speaking at Life University on Monday, February 13th from 7-9pm in Room C149.
