Holiday Preparation If your public relations machine is well oiled, you have been gearing up for this very special time of the year. Thanksgiving has past and weıre getting close to Christmas, Chanukah, Kwansa and the New Year. Regardless of where you practice and the ethnic or demographics of your community, the holiday spirit is surely in the air. So, itıs not too late to capture some of it and take advantage of the giving and joyful spirit of the season. Thanksgiving gave us an opportunity to appreciate our patients and community, and amongst the major holidays, it is the springboard giving way to the others. If you missed thanking and appreciating your patients, you can still capture the moment within the next few weeks. Planning is crucial and time restraints make it necessary to get your act together now. Since patient budgets are planned for Christmas gifts and New Year parties, by the time these days approach, they think little about themselves while concentrating on others. Therefore, itıs prudent to plan your holiday activities in advance while implementing them in a cost effective and timely manner. Okay, Thanksgiving has past, but we have Christmas and the New Years to capture the spirit and new patient. Christmas, Chanukah and Kwansa are extremely communal and family oriented. This is our opportunity to introduce some philosophical or biomechanical concepts concerning family health and wellness as well as ergonomics, stress management and the full array of programs and concerns we have as chiropractors. What better time than to have a Patient and/or Community Appreciation Day or a drive for the local food bank or Toys for Tots. Rather than just placing signs and throwing a few flyers here and there recognizing the purpose at hand, incorporate topical workshops emphasizing family health and wellness, increased functionality, and proactive health tips to stay at peak performance. Plant seeds of wellness and preventive action steps so they can benefit this coming year. Introduce wellness via postural health and stamina for the entire family, outlining areas that touch them the most, their active and sports oriented children, their aging parents, their co- workers and those that share faith with them. This is where the message must be heard, these folks direly need our attention but for the lack of knowledge never receive it. Who, but we, can better tell the tale? Begin your holiday campaign, itıs not too late. Gather the data to send the cards, print the flyers, set up workshops, and contact community leaders forming alliances with them. Offer some incentive to have their evaluations and regenerate interest to your lost patients, a reactivated one is the same as new one. Get going only a few weeks are left until 2007.
