Q: I am moving my office in about 3 weeks to a bigger location. I am considering having a grand opening party. any advice? A: Grand Openings and Patient Appreciation Days have a specific schedule. A new location means new people to meet. Prior to considering the Grand Opening .. first consider canvassing your new area and meet as many people as you can. Purchase lots of business cards and create an introductory promotion that you can give to people then go out a few days a week and shake many hands and leave your card and introduction invitation with them. Attempt to also collect addresses and phone numbers for a mailing list and an interest in office workshops (various topics) as well as e-mail addresses from those you meet. As you collect names and data place them within a databank in your computer and begin the community newsletter program to keep them informed. After a month or two .. possibly more .. you are ready for the Grand Opening. Remember that we are coming upon the traditional slow period between Thanksgiving and New Years .. therefore time is crucial. I would consider tagging your Grand Opening with a charity and offer complimentary evaluations via a donation to the charity. Use community mom and pop shops as well as larger retail .. health food stores and spas .. as a spring board to get the message out. The actual Grand Opening logistics is the easy part .. preparing it is what take time and effort. Have a Great Day Dr. M
