Q: I have a very interesting "merger" taking place. I don't know if that best describes it....let me explain. I am in a networking group. We have a lady who just joined the group. She is a business coach but she use golf as a metaphor to improve people's businesses and golf games. I immediately saw the potential of networking with her. We are now trying to put together some presentations on the two forgotten aspects of the golf game (mental-her, physical-me). It sounds like it has great potential. She wants to get out there to corporations, golf courses, etc. What do you think first of all? Secondly, do you have any specific info relating golf and chiropractic? I searched the internet a bit and found some good stuff but any other additional info you might have would be greatly appreciated! A: Thanks for the e-mail and sharing. A few years ago .. during a seminar break .. I sat with my staff to discuss how we can implement some of the ideas we just heard. The theme was getting the chiropractic message out to the community. We decided to review what we would find in our farm (5-10 miles around our office). Hairdressers are always bent over their clients and when they wash hair they extend their clients necks to the limit .. they would be great to market to and leave material for their clients to read .. along this line we discussed a golf driving range .. now .. what buttons needed to be pushed. Well .. a golfer needs flexibility .. especially since it is a unilateral sport. They need concentration .. mental focus .. not focusing on their physical limitations .. spasms .. fear of rotating their spine to get the best swing. These are the buttons you must push and with this networking partner .. you should write up a few page workbook coordinating the mental and physical aspects of golf. Your portion is also simple .. focus on regions and how they relate to other regions .. lower back .. mid back and neck. Shoulder restriction .. pressure on plexuses of nerves via muscle contractions etc. Promotion should be via workshops .. clinics etc. See if you can go to the pros ..or the driving ranges and get mailking lists or have them place flyers etc. maybe sponser a program via a charity to church or civic groups with the same theme in mind Good Luck Have a Great Day Dr. M
