1-27-05 FCA EXECUTIVE OFFICE Dear Ms Debbie: I was totally shocked and in awe over FSU and today's defeat by the State of Florida Board of Governors 10-3 vote. I was so looking forward to seeing the new 1st ever chiropractic medicine program at Florida State University. I did my best to sound the alarm. Maybe you will recall I was the 1st to sound the alarm right after the signing of the legislation by our Governor Bush. I sent out many e mails for assistance in getting this program operational. I personally believe this program was destroyed within by our own profession from an another national organization and a certain state association as well as the FMA and AMA powers to be. So much money lost. So hard earned contributions. So much time spent. Where do We go now? Another loss for US. We seem to be going no where and or in reverse. We must no longer sit back and continue to be discriminated against. The news media did a real number on this profession alluding our profession from pseudo scientific to quackery. How many times have I asked that this profession move forward. To change for the better? To save itself from destruction? How many times have I asked that WE as a profession elevate our education through our accredited universities? How hard is it to realize that there is a definition presented to our profession by the third party payer system to come to terms to understand what constitutes a primary care physician board eligible or certified full scope licensed physician in the following board specialities of family practice, internal medicine, ob gyn and or pediatrics? All these nightmares that this profession continues to endure from the news media, the medical societies, the insurance industry third party payer system, to the military, to the state and federal governments, the judicial system, the legislature, institutions of higher learning, to the state chamber of commerce, to workers comp, Medicare Medicaid, Trigon, Blue Cross, HMO's. Then you have lawsuit interventions being filed by an MD whom wishes to be a prospective chiropractic medicine candidate at a State University and he wants another degree but at an affordable in state tuition fees. And a professor MD whom wants to teach at Florida State University chiropractic medicine program whom according to the intervention filed claims to be able to show evidence based our profession. Even mention in a recent news media article of the NAACP wishing to add support at Florida State University chiropractic medicine program for minority prospective students to be able to afford a health care post secondary educational degree at a lower cost than attending a privately owned college or university. Gosh, maybe the Seminole Tribes of Florida should also get involved with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Oh well, another battle lost. Can't wait till this legislative session 90 day Main Event begins. What's in store for this profession this 2005 legislative session? Another loss somewhere in our practice rights, our ability to be paid. Not to be negative in my communication or to seem to force you into a corner but please, for the sake and survival of this profession, can't you go before the executive officers of our organization and show them the writing on the chalk board. Ms Debbie. I know that you have the financial means and have at your disposal an extremely effective lobbying machine in place to stop this down hill slide before it is too late. PLEASE HELP SAVE OUR PROFESSION As stated before I am there as a member to serve you in any way possible thru the legislative and judicial process both financially and in time and effort. Let me know and I will be there.. God Bless America, God Bless Our President, God Bless Our Service Personnel and May God Bless this Profession Respectfully, ROBERT WHITNEY BS DC DABCC DABCO NMD MPH DRPH FCA CONCERNED MEMBER ACA CONCERNED MEMBER
