Billing specialists who know how to get you paid E-mail message this week .. focus If you survey business professionals and question what makes one person more successful than the other, one component would be focus. It really pin points the problem that besets our profession. We, by and large, are not focused. Since the first adjustment in 1895, we have been splintered in purpose, procedures, definition and focus. If our eye was on the bulls-eye and we visualized helping so many more than we do, do you think we would be wanting for new patients and some doctors living financially from day to day. No way! We would need police outside our office to mange the crowds. Another word often used is purpose. It is great to say you are on purpose and therefore above the fray of failure. But what defines your purpose, your level of focus, your eye on the tiger, your statement of mission and your reason for being a chiropractor? Is it going to philosophy meetings and checking in with the in crowd? Is it crystallizing your base of knowledge with book smart seminars and hands on follow through? Is it reading your community correctly and being a beacon for health and wellness? It should focus on all three. If we focused as a collective group and influenced our patients, we would have a huge lobby to channel the power of the adjustment and write the laws that protect our income and help those that need our care. The ridiculous fees and allowed service base that is doled out by insurance providers would be seen as the sham they are. People understanding the purpose and focus of chiropractic would demand our care and demand our services be covered equitably. Regular adjustments for Health and Wellness clinically proves that chiropractic is more than an expensive Tylenol. If insurance coding disallows payments for wellness does it demean our purpose or focus to maintain increased biomechanical and neurological flow? Does it decrease our reason to increase a patients physical performance and in so doing see an increase in their overall well being both physical and emotional? Does it reduce our focus towards our product .. patients .. where they live, socialize, pray and work? No, people need our knowledge and skill, where they gather is where we must focus our ability to communicate. People are creatures of habit and recommending supportive, nay maintenance, adjustments on an elective basis seems to fit most of our educated patients perfectly. Focus on business and on your purpose. Tell the chiropractic story as it fits you. Create a practice that enhances the Health and Wellness equation in your community. Meet with like minded chiropractors and push aside those that drag you down.
