Q: How do you handle or recommend handling patients who never do what you ask, don't keep appts., complain about everything, and then seem disgusted that they aren't better after 2 adjustments? It seems lately half my practice is this way....and it gets very frustrating. Thanks for your help! A: Thanks for the e-mail. With the problems you described .. I would get rid of these patients .. they should be few and far between. Since this has recently been a problem for you .. you must reevaluate the way you consult with them and do your report of findings. If a patient sees value to what you are providing they will be more apt to follow your directions. So .. what do you say .. how do you introduce them to their problem .. what is said about your solution .. is money introduced too soon as well as a schedule? If you care to sit down with your computer and write exactly what you would ask at a consultation and ROF .. just assume it is a low back patient .. I will review it any give you my opinion. In a professional atmosphere .. there are no inmates running the asylum .. you are in charge. Thos few you let go .. if there are more than a few .. it¼s probably you at fault Have a Great Day Dr. M By the way ..if you have my Smart Start Book review chapter two which concerns consultation and chapter three which concerns report of findings
