MESSAGES FROM DR. DESPAIN 2/10/03 If you have questions or comments, please email them to Dr. DeSpain at president@life.edu It is with a humble and grateful heart that I confirm on Monday, February 10, Judge Charles E. Moye Jr. restored Lifežs Universityžs accreditation of the College of Chiropractic. This long awaited decision is the end result of much hard work by our Board of Trustees, the interim administration headed by Dr. Michael J. Schmidt and dozens of faculty and staff members. I am truly thankful for their hard work and dedication to Life University. Without their efforts, we would not have survived this crisis. For as many questions that are answered by this ruling, an equal number of new questions are raised. I ask that you remain patient as we sort through the details that must be addressed and trust we will convey information as quickly as possible. Ižve said it many times but it warrants repeating: concentrate on your classroom and clinic work and leave the legal activities to the lawyers. So far, they are doing an excellent job. To our many Life students enrolled at other chiropractic colleges who may now wish to return, we will welcome you with open arms at the appropriate time. I encourage you to also concentrate on academic studies and check our website often. Once we have determined the appropriate manner in which you can transfer back, we will post a message on this very site. I urge each member of the Life Family to take a moment and reflect on the sacrifices of so many in the profession of chiropractic. One only needs to spend a few moments at the bell tower to realize that, while painful, the loss of and efforts to reestablish our accreditation are minor contributions to further the cause we believe in so strongly. Let us also remember how alienated and ostracized we felt during this process and renew our commitment to our mission and purpose.
