Do you ever get frustrated attempting to tell as many people as possible that chiropractic is so special and so needed? Amongst your social crowd, you may have friends that desperately need an adjustment but saying another word is useless. Your child's friend may suffer from ailment after ailment but you suffer in silence because it's politically incorrect to get involved. Watching a sporting event alerts you to the biomechanical dangers of repetitive spinal trauma but you continue cheering without reporting your observations. We are naturally too meek to light up the sky with revelations that may help so many. What's the solution? I guess being politically correct isn't within the pay grade of a chiropractor. Some of us cringe at the thought of colleagues being in the forefront of confrontation and letting the proverbial cat out the bag. Some of us would stop the suffering of others and share the message of specific adjustments and lifestyle changes. They would draw analogies to illustrate that postural stress relates to wellness and health and continued irritation may stimulate over-reaction resulting in symptomatic expression. They would calmly and correctly outline some changes and offer conservative advice to alter the on-going irritation and reduced life expression. It could be accomplished in a professional and ethical manner. Others may feel less inhibited and eagerly open the flood gates of discourse. They may confront the child's parents and lecture them on natural health and alternative ideas of healthcare. Rather than standing by day after day and watching the child deteriorate further, they point out the obvious and insist that there is a better way with chiropractic care. These same doctors have no problem going to the proper authority to establish a beachhead from which to insist that changes be made and the sporting event be run with less physical wear and tear. These doctors sit less on the sideline but rather square in center court. Would this annoy you? So what will it be? Are you willing to have the gift of chiropractic but be cautious using it? Are you willing to let humanity pass by, each with a need, and let the quiet of silence be deafening? What choice is left to you, to be politically correct and let the days continue as yesterday or make some waves, shake a few trees and possibly make a difference? The answer is not as important and the method. Our message is the same whether force or spoon fed. First is awareness then desire and action. I guess the message here is to get the message. Don't stand by and be a spectator, this is assuredly not within our pay grade. Instead be a leader and assert yourself for the goodness of mankind. There are many ways to reach the soul of others. Let yourself be free and express yourself clearly and from the heart and the message will come out as such.
