Q: I have two other doctors interested inn me being their associate. One wanted to know how much I want to get paid. I told him via answering machine, (we've been playing phone tag) $1500/mo. + a negotiable percentage. Got home today to a msg. saying he got my msg. and wants to know what percentage I want and what are 3 things I'll do to bring in new pts. In your experience, what's the usual or reasonable % to ask for in that area as a brand new DC? And, is the $1500/mo. on the mark? Thanks again in advance for your help. A: Thanks for the e-mail .. as far as an associate position.. rather than an IC .. you must be a team player and provide enough income producing services to justify your salary. $1500 a month is less than $400 a week .. which after taxes is not much .. but it's a start. As an associate .. you are an employee. A set salary is good with an incentive bonus after a produced goal is met. For instance .. after a few weeks or months of working .. you should be bringing in new patients to the clinic. These new ones should be handled collectively or by you on a bonus setting .. possibly a 50/50 split on services rendered. Often the owner DC wants you to meet a criteria first .. say .. $4000-6000 in services afterwhich a 50/50 split per month. Now .. this all can be worked out. I recommend you go to my webpage: http://www.mindspring.com/~chirosmart and look under practice tips. One of the first articles is about an associate . read this .. it may be concerning the owner DC but it will give you food for thought. Also .. scroll down and there may be other articles as well. As far as three things to do to get new patients .. use my Smart Start Book oe go my webpage and look under Practice Tips and scrool down for some ideas or look under Cyberconsulting .. tons of stuff there Lots of luck Have a Great Day Dr. M
