Q: Dr. Margolies, I am a new practitioner in Cincinnati OH and will be opening my practice in March. I just purchased your smart start book today! I wanted to ask your opinion on buying an x-ray unit. I have a couple of companies that deal in used equipment that I have talked to but it seems like there are always better deals when buying from a chiropractor directly. Is it better to go with a company? If you buy from a chiropractor who puts the machine in for you? One other question (Sorry) How do I put a posting onto your weekly e-letter? A: Thanks for the e-mail. One way or another you will need a local x- ray person or company to service the machine as well as put it in if you buy it from any source. Used machines are fine .. there is very little that goes wrong with a machine and they can last forever. I have many x-ray postings and often the price is right .. but shipping is going to be a mess. The transformers weigh a ton and are filled with oil .. If you were to purchase a used one from my postings .. be sure to determine the shipping price or trucking company and line up a local x-ray person to put it in. You can get their feedback as well. Believe me .. they want your future business for chemicals and film and will assist you whether you purchase from them or not. If their prices are right .. and you factor in the shipping .. and it almost the same .. buy local. One way or another .. a unit has to be shipped in. As far as posting ..just get it to me by Wednesday and it'll be there .. make it brief. Have a Great Day Dr. M
