Q: A couple of days ago I gave a slide presentation to a senior citizens group. It was a lot of fun and I realize I love talks like this. It was a direct ICA slide presentation about chiropractic and verteberal subluxation. Some chiros say, just work chiro into another topic. I like to work in directly with these ICA slides. A question for you, how can I find more, and younger groups to give my slide presentation to? Do you know any chiro experts in this area that I can be referred to? A: As with the theme of all my material and e-mails .. especially this weekžs concerning the morning practice .. the sky is the limit concerning who talk to and what to say. Yes .. you can always tweak every workshop with a chiropractic message .. therefore a basic concept of chiropractic .. philosophy and anatomy will always fit. In terms of where you should branch off from here .. need to review the demographic farm around the school and where you live. Consider what is available within a 5-10 mile radius .. the four components of demographics for our profession are: residential .. retail .. clerical and labor. Are there divisions of these four factors with the mileage above .. you bet. Are there office bldgs. with clerical employees .. are their housing subdivisions and apartment complexes often with clubhouses .. you bet .. are their warehouse and large department type stores .. you bet .. are there mom and pop shops on the retail end of it all .. you bet. If there are missing components of one there probably is plenty within the others. So .. is there a younger group .. well .. pick and choose. I wish I taught in your school as I did at Life for four years. My class was geared towards providing the almost graduates an opportunity into the world of practice building by successful marketing and PR steps. The text I wrote .. 262 pages of it was my class lectures .. in other words a great reference source for the student to go back to. The book has scripts and letters .. workshops and promotional tools and just about everything you need to get yourself started. I call it Smart Start. I highly recommend you purchase this book. The student fee through a school is $35 .. the retail fee for the DC is $60. Therefore .. I advise you to contact your school bookstore and have them purchase the book for you directly by having them contact me by fax 770- 491-3639 or better calling me at 770-491-3639. Ižd love to have some books available for your school. In fact .. students can probably purchase the book as a group by bypassing the bookstore if they conatct me directly .. Ižd need a payment commitment and then the books will be sent. Sorry for the commercial but the books has helped too many new graduates to not be in the hands of people like yourself. Okay back to your question. Check my webpage: http://www.mindspring.com/~chirosmart and look under Practice Tips and Cyberconsulting. There are loads of ideas there for you. Read some of the recent additions in the Practice Tips ..especially my seminar notes. Unfortunately .. I cannot direct you to anyone to assist you in the LA area .. just be creative and go out and tell the story. By the way .. if you find value in my weekly e-mails and you know of other DC's with an e-mail address .. please have them contact me about my weekly e-mails or send me your chiropractic e-mail address list and I'll get these folks on board. This is how my list grows. Ižd love for you to place some flyers about my weekly e-mail on the school hallways walls or in the school newspaper. Some students send around a paper and e-mail addresses are clearly written down and then faxed to me at the number above and I add students to the list. See what you can do. Have a Great day Dr. M
