Q: I am thinking of expanding the practice by doing employee workshops for corporations. The workshop itself is a discussion for another time. But for right now the hardest part is getting a foot in the door. Our office is located in a high concentration of corporate headquarters, warehouses and manufacturing facilities. A: Thanks for your e-mail and ergonomic script .. it was very well done and to the point. There is little to change except if this is to be used as a telephone script I would re-write it with short bullet fashion highlights so the person using it isn't inundated with words but points. There also may be a need to send materila to the person that you speak with or who wasn't there. Have a clearer and expanded (economy of words is important) break down of what you offer and what exactly their employees will expect. Also .. be ready with dates to recommend for these classes and be sure to let them know you are scheduling your Spring Workshops and a few dates are available .. for urgency. Also have a fax sheet of the info ready to fax and speak with them shortly after your call or even during. There are many ideas to share. I have ywo inexpensive books that may be useful .. Public Relations and Marketing as well as the Workshop Workbook. You are right on the ball .. persistence will pay off. I am not sure where you practice but go to the library and see if they have a Haynes Directory which will list businesses in your area. Also if it is a large city there may be a Business Newspaper and they have a yearly Book of Lists .. invaluable resource. I hope this helps
