You spend time and treasure planting marketing and public relations ideas within your community only to find no one responds or the rewards are far less than you expected. No matter, you continue your efforts, forging forward to create awareness for your office, community programs and stamp your community with your brand of chiropractic and wellness. Profound as this will read, time only tells if your hard work paid off and if time is on your side, you eventually and hopefully will reap the rewards. Being in practice for over 30 years affords me the luxury to have much time to reflect on and determine if my efforts have been for naught or profit. Such is the case of three new patients that came in this week. As many of you faithful readers know, I am quite active with ergonomic and community workshops using my Powerpoint presentations as a means to reach people. Although this may sound tripe, within all my workshops and community events, since my first one in 1985, I leave behind crooked pens with my office information emblazed on it, along with office business cards and magnets. There is no telling how many pens are within office desks, magnets of my office cards stuck on refrigerators of break rooms and our stretch exercise sheets floating around church social halls and other like venues. These were the simple seeds planted many years ago, some that bloomed into a regular stream of new patients while many more were a presence that germinated in due time. Okay, what stimulated this e-mail message? Let me get back to the three new patients. One found my pen in a workmate's desk, left there more than fifteen years ago. Having an auto accident with no relief from her medical physician, she complained to workmates about her plight who found my pen in a desk drawer and offered it as a stimulus for a phone call. The second new patient was dropping her son off at the local high school and while exiting the administration room, glanced at a desk that had my business card on it. She too experienced a recent auto collision and was looking for a chiropractor and fate be told, she found us by a quick glance on an arbitrary desk. The third new patient consulted another chiropractor after her recent auto accident. This doctor did not feel comfortable working with a PI case and referred her to our office. For no other reason, this is why you should consider attending the Feb 17 and 18, Atlanta PI seminar, reducing concerns working in any practice capacity by increasing professional knowledge adding to your practice diversity, as you never know when a seed you planted earlier will require the best of your skills today. Don't stop planting those seeds and watch your practice bloom Have a Great Day Dr. M Postings: Dr. Joel E.
