Shangri La You finding it rough meeting your goals, paying your bills, saving for retirement, contributing to charity and investments with enough left for family, friends and fun? How about professional and fraternal debt that accumulates when bills are unpaid and more is often necessary? Oh oh, another doom and gloom e-mail outlining the deep end of practice rather than promoting a positive place, a Shangri La, of professional prowess. No, a wake up call for many to get in gear moving forward with purpose, following a rode well paved with practice skill, leadership, momentum and motivation. It is possible with the right tools, proper coachin g and dedication. Now this is Shangri La, the Nirvana of all places where life is beautiful and all is understood. This e-mail reaches 32 countries squirreling through small hamlets, villages as well as large metropolitan cities and towns. Our practices differ making no two clinics alike. Some are huge with great volume of patient visits; some are small with manageable numbers. Some handily leave their week with a profit while others strain to make ends meet. Our personalities are diverse leaving the end results diverse as well. But basic concepts of sound practice and patient management make consistency the goal and success, as we like to conceive it, within reach. Now you may wonder what the hell I'm jabbering about, and you would be right if you were on either end of the proverbial practice swing, but a well-adjusted office with a CEO chiropractor manages by statistics, never by intimidation. They understand the basic rules of follow through with less micro management but more trained staff able to adapt and lead as well. They have organization, a purpose for every practice procedure and dedicated staff that works in tandem to make it happen. Doctor, whether you have been at this for a while or just starting a practice, does this sound like you? If not, are there plans to get the data, organize the procedures, train staff, motivate a community and have a well-oiled practice for them to share with their family and friends? I hope so for their and your sake. We are not alone. Although these trying times are rough across the board, as stress managers, we should be in the forefront with solutions. Chiropractic is an answer to many a prayer only if they hear your wee voice in their head. Possibly by a friend, a community flyer, a talk you gave, an outside event or just seeing your sign or reading something about our great profession. Be ready, be real ready as times may slide even further adding more stress throughout your community with people searching for alternative conservative and cost effective care, sounds like chiropractic to me. Is this the Shangri La we found during the eighties, when the aggressive chiropractic took advantage of a New Age finding financial freedom easier? Yes, this is a new age and can be your Shangri La as well. Be prepared Have a Great Day Dr. M PS. Contact Dr. Brad if you practice in Atlanta for the next Thursday EPOC meeting, usually monthly and attend a practice enhancement or technique seminar soon to boost your knowledge. The Fernandez Seminar will be in Atlanta from May 2-3. Call them at 1-800-882-4476 and if you have never attended their weekend seminar, let Julie know you are coming as my guest.
