Q: Hi Dr. Joel, I have the opportunity to go meet the mall director on Tuesday, also Wallmart mgr, k-mart mgr. My question is, should I have written material for them? Also, what is my pitch? What is in it for them? Hopefully I can avoid $$$$ . Thanks in advance. If the guy is tough I want to know what to say... A: Thanks for the e-mail. When you approach a retail facility there are two avenues to travel on .. what will benefit their customers and their employees. Lets take a WalMart .. First .. there is the customer base. Walk into the WalMart and ask for the manager. "Hello, my name is Dr. Mike and I am a Chiropractor just around the corner. I was wondering if you have ever had a chiropractor providing your members (the name they call their customers) postural and stress screenings in your store. There are many chiropractors offering these services within WalMart and Sams throughout the country." If they say no or seem to be interested .. go on: "If possible .. I would appreciate the opportunity to provide this Community Service. I can work with the American Red Cross and provide blood pressure readings (if you like to do this just call the Red Cross and ask if they can send you a community log) All I need is a table and a few chairs .. usually set up in an area with some extra room. People who wish an evaluation will be provided a quick check up and given conservative advice .. I can be available on Saturdays" The next step for a Walmart retail facility is the ergonomic programs: "Also .. you may wish to implement some ergonomic programs. I know you have regular associate (the term they call employees) meetings and it would be a great idea if I can spend a few minutes with them going over Safety and Wellness concepts. I can do this during these meetings or at the shift changes in the break room." Use this and play with it .. Have a Great Day Dr. M PS.. check my webpage under Cyberconsulting .. scroll around there may be other answers there
