Q: Hi, Dr. M As your advice has always been great, I turn to you again with another question. A women's rugby team is forming in the community. I was wondering what the best approach to inform them of benefits of chiropractic would be (they certainly need it) and to possibly try to be the team doctor. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks A: Thanks for the e-mail. The best button to push and health oriented and sports oriented person is performance and wear and tear. I often tell my patients that chiropractic has been offering the same advice as the Sports Medicine sub specialty of orthopedics. This specialty was the offshoot of people demanding more time on the field and less time in pain. The demanded their level of performance be enhanced naturally with less wear and tear. This is the role of chiropractic. Therefore whenever you meet or hand anything to this group you should stress less stress but more performance .. less wear and tear but more flexibility .. less restrictions but extended pay time with less fatigue. Yes .. all possible with regular chiropractic care. For a group you should arrange that every member have .. if they wish .. a complimentary spinal and postural evaluation. To be available for any minor injuries and to be available each week of play to adjust them allowing their body to stabilize and reduce the wear and tear associated with their sport. If you wish to attend their meets this would also be possible. The bottom line is to first introduce the concept. Tell them how easy and beneficial it is for their team to take advantage of your offer. Make your time available as part of your Community Outreach Program and go from there Be sure to have dates in hand prior to meeting with them for evaluations and possible special times for them. Be aware that with your giving you expect to receive as well. Some publicity .. referrals and the like Have a Great Day Dr. M
