Chiropractic in South Africa It is really wonderful to practice Chiropractic here. I call it Chiropractic Heaven. Ever body pays at the time of their visit, most insurance pays, no paper work or guide lines to follow, no reviews, no narratives, no third party gunk. Just pure adjusting and getting paid for it. Also law suit are very rare here so you have a very relaxed and joyful practice. As I say Chiropractic Heaven. Probably the way Chiropractic was in the 60's and 70's, except here it is accepted very well. The doctors as a whole refer to alternative doctors or therapists here partly because of the large Black population. The government recognized the African Sangoma's (tribal Healer) so along with it a wide variety of alternative therapies are recognized. The Chiropractors have their own council with the Homeopaths, we are not contracted in the medical aid scheme, but they do pay if the patient sends in the receipt. Great for us it sets a up a cash practice scenario for all. Since the alternative therapies have a council there are rules and regulations for each therapy. Mandatory subjects taught in addition to the therapy training, like anatomy and physiology, first aid and CPR. They all have to do 300 hours of case studies with written exams. So the therapist are fairly qualified when they get their certificate. However, they can't bill the insurance because they are not primary health care practitioners. Because of all this the doctors have accepted alternative therapies much more than in the States. Well I hope you enjoyed my brief synopsis of Chiropractic in RSA. reply to: mikerudin@hotmail.com
