Referrals How much would you pay for a steady stream of referrals? As with every successful business, repeat and word of mouth commerce is always best. First, the new patient has already been acquainted with your office by the referrer and they probably pumped you up with a number of platitudes. If it a business requiring many entry and follow through procedures, like chiropractic, the referrer has most likely walked their friend through it already. So, doctor, again, how much would you pay be a steady stream of referrals? If time is money, how much time would you set aside weekly or monthly to promote a referral practice? Would you discuss some form of strategy at your next staff meeting? Would you begin a campaign to ask patients for either family, friends, co-worker or co- parishioner referrals? Like any referral, patients know the social or work routine of their family and friends and can easily foresee their need for conservative proactive chiropractic care. It is just a matter of asking and revealing the wonders of chiropractic. So, how much time you place in staff and personal training will determine how much money you were willing to spend and probably how successful you will be. Instinctively, we humans are in need of encouragement and acknowledgment. The patient that follows your schedule should be acknowledged and encouraged to continue proper care. The staff member that has that soothing and nurturing demeanor as well as the front desk CA, who fosters discipline with love should be acknowledged with an occasional bonus or gift and encouraged to continue their role of support towards your health and wellness goals. The more you acknowledge and encourage, the more you stimulate the need for them to be stroked again. Each stroke may just be a new patient. Doctor, referrals is not just an in house event. Every community vendor, professional, institution, business, personal and corporate neighbor is fair game to create a referral alliance. I can go on and we can spend hours discussing the nuances of the Golden Rule within your community. Each good deed, shared informational moment, educational lecture, posture and fitness screening, etc. can stimulate further growth and promote tributaries of referrals that spread throughout the community.
