Q: I am involved in a mentoring program at the elementary school near my office. The teacher and I have opened a very positive relationship. I would like to do a program for this 6th grade class and possible other home rooms, and maybe even the school as a chiropractic health assembly. I am now in the idea collecting stage and was wondering if you have any input that might be unusual and interesting to the kids. Or if you know where I can get some ideas for illustrating the brain body relationship to health that would not be to deep and somehow present it in an exciting happy way. A: First of all the age of the kids make a difference. If they are young .. you can bring your plastic spine and spend 20 minutes going over how unique and important it is. As far as the Brain Body .. use a dimmer switch as an example of energy being interferred with .. bring enough copies of the nervous system .. the ones in color .. and place them in plastic sheets .. they usually come 50 to a pad from Parker .. maybe DE .. and have every student have one .. then ask if they know what organs they can see ..be sure your address is on them .. let them take it home .. of better yet with the teacher's cooperation give them a homework assignment .. or have them use their pencils and draw a line from the nerve to the special organs .. be creative
