DC needs information concerning a natural cure for Crohns Disease E-mail message this week .. nibble or gobble Unless you have been blessed with a stable waist and looking within the mirror makes you feel content .. you are amongst the many that fight the battle of the bulge. As we age our metabolism slows and our girth speeds upward and outward. A few years ago I wrote an e- mail newsletter titled nibble and gobble. (You can read all my previous e-mails on my webpage). The message was clear .. putting on weight usually meant gobbling more food while enjoying it less. Keeping the fat off and feeling the healthy effects of a well tuned machine meant nibbling and savoring every bite. Which would you choose .. savoring every micro chew .. taste .. smell .. texture versus shoveling in more and more as one big gulp and down it goes? Nibbles result in appeasing the need to chew without the bulk .. while gobbling fulfilled the weighty issue of abundance while enjoying it less. Practice procedures also run the gamut of nibble and gobble. The average DC is a hard working generous and giving individual content on helping as many people as possible while being compensated. As a business we adhere to a nibble of ideas here and a gobble of concepts there. If I were to ask you what your last promotional program was could you tell me? Was it well thought out .. nibbled to the inch degree or did you gobble the entire program without savoring which ingredients worked. As we enter an emotional and weighty seasonal period between Thanksgiving and New Year .. we need to consider the balance between nibble and gobble. As we plan our personal caloric content per holiday and the compensatory exercise programs for overall balance .. we also decide if a few less gobbles would suffice or extra laps around the track would do the trick. The outcome is to weigh in as we weighed out week by week. Planning is essential and follow through a must. Look within the ultimate harsh ruler of practice health .. the profit and loss mirror. Has your income been trickling in at a nibbles pace while your expenses are gobbling up your profits? Looking at the slide rule of practice income .. increased patients .. services .. fees .. it is obvious that a compensatory program for overall balance is also in order to avoid the yo yo effect of bloating profits with deflating expenses. We are entering a yearly practice period of either feast or famine. Some doctors kiss it off as a slow period with patients more interested in gift spending than visit payments. These doctors not only lose weeks leading to the New Year but many weeks into it. No effort to trim the fat of a sluggish practice metabolism .. no effort to stimulate holiday promotions to keep your practice on an even keel .. no effort to utilize the giving and appreciative nature of the weeks to come .. no effort to capture a momentum that will grow into the New Year. Previous efforts gobbled up and lost. I recommend you consider and plan the crucial weeks ahead. Check each patient¼s schedule and determine who needs some extra education .. referral tweaks .. maintenance considerations or hand holding to avoid drop outs. Be wary of complacency of staff. Consider an office promotional game with built in bonuses to stimulate growth. Tag along with charity food and toy drives .. join community efforts for exposure and plan to succeed. Nibble on this awhile. PS .. in the sharing mode .. do you have any holiday winning ideas that you can share and I can place it on my webpage. Sharing is Caring .. please send it along Have a Great Day Dr. M Postings: For sale South Florida practice: Located in Stuart, Florida. Doctor wants to sell both practice and office building.
