Q: Dr. M, I want to thank you for all the great info and insight you so willingly shared with us this past quarter. Your class was a pleasure to attend and a well needed one. As of now, I currently await to take part 4 NB in Nov., but the wheels are in motion for plans after it's over. 2 weeks ago, I asked you to post any job opportunities in the area of New Hampshire, or practices for sale, and unfortunately no contacts were made yet. I'm actually headed up to the area and meeting with a couple of Dr.'s that I contacted through the directory. I was hoping to refine some of the things we went over in class so that I could use them as a selling point for myself for short term employment by an existing Dr. My goal was to work for someone for 6 months then open up my own place. The one problem I have is finding someone to take me on for such a short term. I was wondering how you stated it in class? Thanks for helping me out. A: Find a location you wish to practice in and locate the DC's. Prepare a flow sheet of my internal and external public relations and case management material. Once you have the paperwork .. visit a DC or two and ask them if you can do both the management of their new patients and promotion for new ones. This will include exams and consultations. Reports and workshops. Special holiday or monthly theme programs within the office and asking for referrals. Externally .. just as I mentioned in class .. spend a few mornings each week doing the leg work to meet and greet the community. As far as pay .. you should determine a base salary and after a month or 6 weeks .. lower it a bit and look for $20-$25 a new patient in two stages .. stage one is getting them in the office for an exam .. possibly $10 .. stage two is having them as paying patients .. possibly for an additional $10-15. See how this works. Have a Great day and Good Luck I am always as far as your keyboard. Dr. M
