National Boards The Chiropractic National Boards are coming up, placing fear and anxiety within every eligible student. Without this right of passage, after years of diligent study, the graduate has limited possibilities and possibly a new phrase to their study curve .. "what would you like with those fries." Doctor, imagine after three years of licensed practice you needed to take a post National Board exam. This time the science is left out but practice management and success quotients are put in. Realizing that success can be graded in various ways, beyond money, the test would rather determine if you set your goals correctly and are meeting them or on your way. As we all should agree, training to be a chiropractor is a journey. Early on you realize you are like a salmon swimming against the current of healthcare, always fighting the ignorance of a well-kept ignorant society. So why bother studying and honing skills if you have been lax in getting the message out, keeping patients from dropping out and expecting referrals sustaining your healthy practice? This post National Board test would question your after school and a few years under your belt knowledge and have you realize the gaps of understanding you have. More money is spent on postgraduate seminars then almost all four years of chiropractic school. Purpose, to go over material, concepts and procedures that help you get the message out and expand community knowledge as well as quantify your technical prowess with strength in knowledge. For those doctors adverse to practice management and verbiage keeping patients in house, this post examination will also expose the success or lack thereof of helping your community. Biomechanical chiropractic based on structure and rehabilitation without acknowledging the subluxation complex and used for relief only is fine, but have you helped as many people as you physically can within the time frame you feel best suited to their condition? No matter how you approach the art, science and philosophy of chiropractic, our goals as a professional should be the same, to be available and competent to help those that ask or know of our great profession. A post National Board would open our eyes and either tweak or jumpstart our goals. Have a Great Day Dr. M Postings: Dr. Joel E.
