Shared by Dr. Rick Wren wren@texoma.net Dear Colleagues and Friends, Success principle # 7 ( Set up multiple appointments) is most times difficult to get Chiropractors to do, because of the emotional risk. The physical planning for multiple appointments is one of the easiest to prepare for, but due to the fear of rejection Chiropractors do not schedule for weeks or months at a time. For patients to get good results in a Chiropractic office they have to schedule their life around the Chiropractic visits. When you schedule only one visit or one week at a time, Chiropractic will then be scheduled around their life in week 2, 3, 4, and on. You want the patient to automatically think that they cannot schedule anything else on any Monday, Wednesday, or Friday at 4:00 PM, because they are at the Chiropractic office for their Adjustment. We schedule 26 visits at a time, because that is how many on one side of the travel card. So if their at 3 times a week- we schedule 8 weeks, then rexam and possible re-xray. So if their at 2 times a week- we schedule 12 weeks, then rexam and possible re-xray. So if their at 1 time a week- we schedule 6 months, then rexam and possible re-xray We do a Surface EMG( Subluxation Station) at the end of each 26 visits. We re-xray twice their first year and once a year there after. Remember re-exams and re-xrays are to demonstrate how tough the 3 stresses are on the spine, not to brag how perfect their spine is. Most of our patients are on one year plans, so there is no finality to running out of scheduled appointments. In most offices, the last scheduled appointment means a possible escape time. You should schedule several weeks or months of appointments on their first financial report on day 3. You just look them in the eye and say " To reserve the best time for your appointments we will schedule them in advance for you". They rarely say no. If they get squirrelly, they are not sure they want to be with you yet. So it is time to confront them right then and ask " Why would you not want to reserve your best own personal time each visit?" They usually want to discuss time and or money issues, so do it right then. Some will ask " What if I need to go out of town for a week?". You explain that any one, two, or three visits that need to be changed along the way is no problem. Confirm with them that patients that have the same set appointments, get better results, because they are less likely to forget them. Sometimes your staff will not want to schedule multiple appointments, because it is more work. If you are doing it manually, keep copies in alphabetical order of each patients schedule in a 3 ring binder. So it is easy to find what all days you scheduled, when a patient wants to make major changes. You can call Parker Professional Products at 800-950-8044 for their Multiple Appointment Form with NCR copy to file.
