For sale Chiropractic posters Note: I spent the previous evening with about 25 fellow chiropractors recharging our batteries and rekindling the spirit that brought us to our honored profession. We met on the Life University campus for fellowship and open to appreciate the wonders available with our minds, hearts and hands. This was an evening of chiropractic enthusiasm, what B.J. Palmer called Spizzerentum or good old-fashioned philosophy. Chiropractic philosophy and practice management go hand in hand. Dr. Tom Morgan was the guest speaker sharing his 40 years of successful practice and consulting/coaching experience. His soft spoken but firm manner of confidence and purpose spoke volumes to me. Possibly this is why his e-mail address is: volumedc@aol.com. This was one dedicated doctor who learned to keep intensity within a practice. He is focused on the bottom line by simply serving each patient with a halo of chiropractic while redirecting them from allopathic to a natural means of healthcare. He spoke of dedication by skillfully sharing his knowledge with everyone. His purpose was driven by a deep desire to help those willing to participate in the dance of more, as Dr. Joe Flescia would say. He charged us all to place value on the adjustment and allow each person to participate in wellness by spreading the message with their referrals. I appreciated his message and looking around the room, the others felt the same. I recommend you find likeminded (positive) colleagues willing to regularly meet for fellowship and sharing ideas to make our communities healthier. Below are my humble words to stimulate some of you to do more and begin to rekindle the spark that got you this far. So here goes É. E-mail message this week .. Malpractice Did the topic get your attention? No one wants to hear the word malpractice especially if you are on the receiving end. But to many of our patients we commit malpractice with each office visit. You think this is a stretch? Well, if the exchange between you and the patient was simply, excuse me here, an adjustment without a germ of education, rehabilitation, discussion of adjusted daily living, questioning the ergonomic impact of their daily professional life or the stress factors that instigate response from an emotional, chemical, physical, neurological and ultimately physiological realm than yes, you did not provide the essence of doctoring or mentoring or teaching and would be considered professional malpractice. You failed to fulfill the obligations of healing by assisting each patient whether they are grumpy or ecstatic, heavy or glamorous, dimwitted or the brightest candle around. Our malpractice carriers have no provisions protecting us from this. Fortunately, for us, patients also have little knowledge to know better. In an ideal world of chiropractic, we should always be in the proverbial zone guiding each patient toward increased physical, emotional, chemical, neurological and physiological performance. The how and methodology towards this goal is the fabric that makes one doctor stand out while others are molded just more of the same. It's not easy to be "on" all the time, peeling away issues that create practice stress. Between office and patient management there leaves little room to wiggle in some zoning time. But, a well-oiled office with staff components interacting and promoting spontaneously towards increasing patient volume and services has the upper hand. This office has less redundancy and more awareness towards increased patient interaction and education. They have a consistent upward statistic of patient and community referrals. The atmosphere within the office feel less structured because the roles played are routine and value stimulates action toward positive reaction. There is a feeling of anticipation to change each patient and see him or her duplicated at minimum as a sign you got the message of chiropractic across. Malpractice, well maybe a stretch, but get your act together and see how your practice blooms with the Spring season we're in Have a Great Day Dr. M Postings: Two practice for sale in Atlanta: Practices are currently in-network with most major insurers.
