Everything else is an extension of these three. Now before I write any further consider this, if you feel that chiropractic is not a business then you may be upset by what you are about to read. If you have poverty issues and are unable to place a value on your services than you will also have issues with what I write or if you feel that chiropractic is sacred and charging for your services breaks the bond between you, your patient and your creator than between us all you'll have problems with what I am about the write as well. So let's get to it. We are a business and without getting anal about how to run your business, those that run it in a business like fashion succeed while those that flip coins or place fingers in the air to determine where the wind blows usually succeed by luck not by circumstance and design. I haven't time to write how to run your business (purchase my Smart Start Book if you like) but there are a lot of consultants with plans and methods galore and I recommend you set your sails towards one of them. There are few business classes within chiropractic schools that teach on paper or via lecture what world we face once we sign our first contract or interact with our first paying patient or humble ourselves with the paymasters .. insurance providers. So, setting a decent, equitable and honest fee is the easiest way to create wealth. Having a decent volume of patients is probably the hardest to acquire and maintain and may be the costliest if advertising is part of the equation and poor patient management is the norm. Volume depends on getting the message out, creating value and sustaining those that take part in your dance for life and those they refer. Services are the key for sustenance as the more you do within your philosophical boundaries increases the fee intake and may assist with volume stabilization if need meets want. Doctor, we have a wonderful life fulfilling and sustaining profession that warrants the respect of those we seek and meet to help. As businesspeople we can be void of the manipulative deflating value provided by insurance carriers by establishing guidelines and policies for staff, patients and community. Learn best to educate, provide the best service possible, increase your fees to match your community (when was the last time you visited your fees), provide extended financially rewarding and cash providing services such as nutrition and rehab and get the word out to expand your volume.
