Q: We just ended week 3 of being open and things seem to be going well, we havnt done any "formal" marketing yet but things are in development. We had 51 visits last week and hope to hit the 60-65 mark this week, running on pure passion at this point and see tons of room for improvement, office procedures need lots of work but i'm sure that will come. If you have any advice on how to set up screenings with local krogers or of the like would take any so far i've been shut out and kinda confused on how to set them up. Thanks again for your time. A: You are both doing great. Pure passion is the best office procedure .. that's called raw talent and hard work. Survival always motivates a practice to run. If you are seeing over 50 people a week and have them paying for the privledge .. after a few weeks of opening up .. don't try to change the mix .. just work with and improve upon it. Getting into a local Krogers may be difficult. Remember that we are in Atlanta .. a town that has a history of many students and graduates who have paved the way before you and I .. both positive and negative .. and many corporations have been through the solicitations .. hard sales pitches etc. Krogers being a large corporation may feel uncomfortable having you within their store doing a screening .. but as always it's up to the individual manager. I would recommend looking elsewhere .. but if you wish to break through .. use a local charity to to it with. For example .. visit the store and ask someone which charity they usually work with at various times of the year. Then call this charity and ask if they would welcome donations and assistance with their fund drives .. be sure to let them know you are a chiropractor and that in conjunction with your community outreach programs you use the services of a charity when people wish a service that would require a fee and this fee is sent directly to the charity. For example .. during a screening (by the way read chapter four in the Smart Start Book .. at the end of chapter this is explained) you may charge a nominal fee for an in office evaluation .. maybe $75 but it is reduced to $15 or $25 for those wishing to lock in a time for the in office exam. Okay the check of $25 is written to the charity or cash is sent to them (I recommend a fee that is easy to give .. no more than $25 .. $15 fits better). The charity must either send or fax to you a letter of endorsement that is now taken or sent to the manager of your local place and this helps to open the door. Prior to meeting with these local managers .. be sure to have everything spelled out in writing .. what you plan to do and what you hope to achieve. Be sure it is easy to understand and then go for it.
