The following is an e-mail sent to me on 5-26-99 from Joseph Ventura D.C., who is the President of VenturaDesign software. He is 100% right and I hope you¼ll contact him at: info@posturepro.com if you have any questions: Joel, we met at the Karl Parker Seminar. I had the posture software and told you that I created Karl's site. I appreciate the information you submitted in your recent ICA review article. I would like to offer some observations, based on my experiences as a web site designer, and Internet marketing consultent these past five years. I caution anyone without experience in marketing or web design about making their own site. Yes, anyone can do it with today's easy software programs, but few do it well. A web site is a unique opportunity to unfold the wonders of chiropractic, in general, and an individual's practice, in particular, to the world and community. You and I have both seen too many examples of terrible sites, to really feel comfortable with letting a doctor design their own site. Notice I keep using the words "web site"? I don't believe in a web page for a doctor. That's advertising. To market a practice you need an integrated site with features to keep their attention and give them a reason to return and tell their friends. An example of this concept is the site template I use for my doctors. This can be viewed at http://www.chirosite.com/sample I also have a particular belief about promoting a site. While you listed all the normal avenues to let people about a web address, one was left out, and I feel it's the most important. I tell my clients that the primary purpose of a web site is to promote their practice to their "Golden Circle". This is the three mile radius around their clinic, from which comes 80% of their patients. Once a site is up, I recommend sending a direct mailer to that Golden Circle (I provide the list as part of my service), notifying the area about the site. Most Golden Circles contain 25,000 or more, business and residential addresses. Half of that list uses the Internet for information gathering. This "active driving people to a site", is the #1 method of promoting a site. I charge $1,200 per year (Includes domain name and e-mail addresses) to provide a comprehensive web marketing plan. As far as I know, it's the only guaranteed plan. if the doctor's not completely satisfied, the second year is free. Joel, I respect your opinion. Please feel free to evaluate the above sample site and let me know what you think. Joe V. Sincerely Joseph Ventura D.C.
