How often do you see a problem before you but never fix it? .. How often do you sense something is not right but just look the other way? Is this you? .. Does your staff react this way? .. Do you want it better? During my second week's lecture at Life University .. I ask my students to create an awareness of a turn key practice. Since my class is geared to the senior student with only weeks before graduation .. I want them to graduate with enough tools to ply their trade .. to create a successful new practice .. to just walk into their clinic and turn the key. To make this happen .. they and you .. must begin to listen to that wee voice within .. look for solutions .. get in touch with your senses and make proper judgment calls. You must be able to turn that key .. start the engine .. and not look back. For instance .. a few weeks ago my e-mails went over patient surveys and creating various workshops. In this week's class .. I went over Chapter Seven of my Smart Start book concerning workshops. That little voice within has been nagging me to meet and create more people and places within my office Farm .. my Community. But .. I was not prepared to send material .. no one was trained to present the program let alone do it .. and time was not set aside to train someone. We've all been there .. looking something straight in the eye and realizing that once again another idea was wasted .. another program was not implemented and yet another day goes by with more of the same rather than stimulating growth and excitment. No matter how you practice .. no matter where your patient base comes from .. no matter how successful you are .. you need to generate growth .. continue creating newness .. equip yourself and your staff with renewed interest in chiropractic and your purpose. Listen to that wee voice .. waste no time in fixing what needs done today and feel the glow of appreciation when it is accomoplished. Let me share with you a solution to our dilemma. Within a few miles of my office a large retail store has been in the building stages for the past few months. As the outer shell was in place .. parking areas paved .. fixtures and signs for help visible from the street .. I realized that if I was going to be the early bird and catch this worm .. I better get off my butt now. I sent a packet with a welcome to the community letter .. a menu of our ergonomic and community wellness programs .. a number of thank you letters from other corporate neighbors .. and told the manager (who the letter was addressed to) I would contact him later this week. Later this week came and decisions had to be made now .. not tomorrow .. not letting another opportunity pass by .. action had to be implemented today. I briefed my intern ..scrambled to put together a flip page overview of our message .. went over a script and sent him to the store. He just followed the script .. asked for the manager .. asked if he read our packet and the answer was .. No. Did he have time to go over our program? .. No. Was there anyone else who had the time? .. Yes .. the assistant manager. Great. He went over the program ..flipping page by page .. menu by menu .. letter by letter and the asst. manager was impressed. Next step .. talk to their safety manager .. then workshops .. postural and stress screening .. customer health tip workshops .. health fairs .. it's endless. Why did this happen? The answer is simple .. I listened to that little vioice .. made the proper action steps .. fixed the problem and acted upon it. Now comes the most important and often the most overlooked stage .. follow through .. the key to any marketing success .. this I'll follow through in another e-mail. But .. before I conclude this week's e-mail .. you should also follow through. Have a staff meeting .. create a battle plan to meet and greet your community .. if you have my Smart Start Book copy the menu of services .. rewrite some letters and make them apply to you .. create a log .. send out material .. call these places .. send someone by to introduce the programs .. create handouts .. provide workshops .. offer a number of additional programs .. be creative .. and listen .. the voice within you is always speaking .. just listen. Reply-to: DCKOOPS@ix.netcom.com Chiropractic Children's Organization Fundraiser: The ICPA, in keeping with its mission to provide quality chiropractic care for children, will be debuting a "Holiday Children's Angel Fund". Net proceeds from the venture will be distributed equally to the Oklahaven Children's Center and the Kentuckiana Children's Center. Each of those worthy organizations provides their valuable chiropractic services to children in dire need of care (many times without compensation). This lack of funds is often a dilemma that occurs on a monthly basis for many non-profit organizations. It is the belief of the ICPA that it is time for the chiropractic profession to give back to "one of our own." So what can our profession do for these children's centers? First, understand that both of these centers rely solely on donations for their operating funds. And as is typical of most non-profit organizations, they often lack the manpower to develop or implement a large-scale fundraiser. How can you help? The ICPA has an answer. We have launched a Holiday Children's Angel Fundraiser. Our goal this year is to raise $50,000 for Oklahaven and Kentuckiana.
