Being that these e-mails are going into the cyberspace (by the way two thumbs up for Men 
in Black .. a movie for those not with it), and via the cosmos into six countries, I must 
qualify this short letter by telling everyone that I am writing this and sending it on July 3, 
one day before the American Independence Day (sorry those of you in the UK who receive 
these).  

What is Independence Day .. a day of liberation .. of freedom .. of ending a quest and 
search for completion. As chiropractors .. usually swimming upstream .. we have always 
searched for respect and completion. Our story never ends .. we must always strive for 
more. 

Independence Day is a day of fulfillment. Are you complete with your knowledge of 
Chiropractic? .. Are you waking up each day anticipating difficulty or are you going with 
the flow? Are you in control of the journey or are you always stopping to ask for 
directions? Have you reached that independent day yet?

Independence Day is a day of liberation. Are you free to ask for a referral and receive two 
(that would be nice)? Are you afraid to ask? .. are you in fear of rejection? ... are you 
usually at a loss for words? Are you liberated enough to know who you are that you are the 
doctor? Have you reached that independent day yet?

Independence Day is a day of freedom. Are you free to tell the story without compromise? 
Are you free to have staff meetings that are productive .. not bitch and gripe sessions? Are 
you free to expand both personal and professional? Have you reached that independent day 
yet?

Independence Day is a quest .. a search. You bet it is. Managed Care (socialized healthcare 
for those overseas) is eating at the profits and psyche of all healthcare providers. Does our 
services to those in need stop or change?  may be .. somewhat .. but do we quiver in fear 
and play the „chicken little card.¾ I hope not! This is not the completion we¼re after. Our 
quest is to be free to doubt .. to have others reach for our valuable product .. to present a 
gift of health to those that seek our care .. independent of managed care .. independent of 
staff upheaval .. independent of community ignorance .. independent of our personal fear 
.. the chiropractic story .. taking the hard bone off the soft nerve has always been the same 
.. call it what you will .. foot on the hose .. pinched nerve .. whatever ... just do it ..tell it 
.. and be free.

Independence Day is the day you plan your day .. week .. month .. and year. It is the day 
you are in control of your professional destiny by taking the action steps you have mapped 
out and implemented the programs that make sense to you. Independence Day is the day 
you reach within and ask those to follow YOU .. not only you following others for lack of 
direction. Independence Day starts the day you plan it .. not only on national holidays.
