SAM MKVII for sale E-mail message this week .. impressions During the last two weeks I had an opportunity to observe patient care from the other side. Fortunately .. I was not the patient but the focus of my attention was as if .. I was. My good friend was injured in an auto collision. She was hit from two sides and was taken unconscious to a hospital and very lucky to be alive. Besides the gross soft tissue trauma .. she broke two places in her hip. Needless to say .. she needed medical attention for crisis management with hospitalization until stable. Her stay was within a private hospital offering a beautiful open atrium as if we were in a five star hotel. Once off the elevator and on the orthopedic floor .. the ambiance didn廠 change. The halls were colored warmly .. no smell of a hospital and even her private room was non threatening. I never liked hospitals and must admit that if I had to go .. I could heal well there. On the other hand .. I had to make copies of a patient廣 x-rays. I knew the radiology facility of a local hospital had the proper equipment and attempted three times to have them made. The first two attempts were after normal business hours and no one was to be found. The third attempt found me sitting with some patients awaiting their x-rays in a cramped reception room. The colors were bleak .. the atmosphere was hostile and listening to the few patients complaining of insurance and service I realized that when we are too close to the forest we often cannot or refuse to see the trees. After forty five minutes .. I questioned the whereabouts of my x-rays .. how long it would take and found myself .. as if a patient .. looking through their eyes. Doctors .. it was a humbling experience and one we should encounter yearly to awaken our service spirit and be thankful for what we have. I challenge each of you to look through the eyes of your patients .. what do you see? Is your office hostile and intimidating or warm and inviting? Listen through the ears of your patients. Do you hear complaints and anxiety or praise and hope? Feel through the fingers of your patients. Does your equipment need repair and is your touch forced and painful or are you specific and gentle. Smell through the nose of your patients. Is your office musty .. the magazines moldy .. the chairs dirty .. the bathroom unsanitary? Take this opportunity to call the office of your DC friends. Are their CA廣 a blessing or a curse .. is the welcome warm of harsh .. was their tone upbeat and caring or intimidating and uninviting? Call your friends .. let them know if they have winner or an employee needing retraining or the boot. Sharing is Caring. Remember .. there is never a second chance for a first impression Have a Great Day Dr. M
