E-mail message this week: Ideas and Implementation I was listening to the Motley Fool radio show this past weekend and they were interviewing Guy Kawasaki .. he was the Apple guru that assisted in their Macintosh marketing plans. He presently is the president of a new internet company which matches high tech ideas with financial backers .. visit his website at www.garage.com. During this interview a number of callers asked what it took to be successful and how to market a product and idea. One of the callers reminded me of myself .. you see I have a great idea for an ergonomic workstation .. but just the idea. I have no technical skills to manufacture a prototype .. no electrical skills to criss cross wires and create a smooth operating unit .. no engineering skills to outline and place on paper the symbols and lines that will take this idea from my head to a functional finished product .. I just have the idea. Well .. this caller described a wonderful item to use while driving .. a great idea that needed funds to start up with and wanted to know how to protect his intellectual (idea) rights while others create the product. His answer is a lesson to all .. an idea is 10% with implementation 90%. He answer was cold and cruel .. ideas mean nothing if not implemented. I just finished a revised and shortened version of my Smart Start text for my new class at Life and compiled a number of action steps to start a new practice .. I titled it .. Right from the Start. Great ideas each one .. 61 pages of Practice Management and Public Relation concepts to get new patients and what to do once they come in .. But .. it廣 just ideas .. 10% .. it幢l take 90% implementation to get it done. Chiropractic is just an idea .. a concept of health care .. a method to assist the body in regaining and maintaining health and wellness .. just an idea. Let廣 play with this idea .. stop reading this and take a peek outside your office or home window. If it faces a road or looks across an office park or subdivision .. how many people driving by or working or living near by have you told this idea to .. how many of them know about chiropractic from other DC廣 .. know about this great idea. Every seminar or chiropractic text you read are just ideas .. 10% .. you will have to implement. Example .. I must have taught almost a thousand students in the years I影e been teaching. Most carry around my Smart Start Book as if it廣 a Bible. Although they heard me explain many concepts and ideas from my 21 years of experience and what is written in the book .. it was just ideas .. they were not ready to implement them. As you may know .. I receive on average 10-15 e-mails a day from all over the world. Previous students and cyber friends like yourself asking my opinion and requesting information concerning practice problems and general business help. I answer the same day and place many answers on my webpage under Cyberconsulting. Recently .. two of my previous students .. now DC廣 I影e been consulting with (presently there is no fee for this service) .. have asked similar questions. Although they are states away from each other their office cities are very much alike. One doctor took the ideas in the book and what I expressed in the e-mail and followed through .. his practice continues to blossom ..the other doctor continues to write and call with excuses and finding every way not to implement. Let me tell you .. I影e been there and still reside there .. but as always 10% lays there waiting for the 90% to move it along. Have you had some ideas floating around to service your patients better .. to get the message out .. to reach more people in your community .. to create those professional alliances .. to work closer with your staff .. to get your practice up and running or make it even better ..
