Holiday season promotion shared by: Dr. Janet Taylor (jataylor@nxs.net) Here is a suggestion for some holiday flare for any religious or philosophical background. Instead of sending cards to my patients, some of who do not celebrate Christmas, I have used the following tradition for 15 years with great success. It is such a small gesture of appreciation that has GREAT rewards. (I've had grown men cry and kids treasure these year after year.) On Dec. 1st I light a large candle in my office which stays lit throughout the day. Each patient is given the choice of a red, white, or green taper from a decorative container. (Only one per person during the month.) Then to each patient, while lighting the chosen taper off the large candle, I say "This large candle represents myself and my staff and our LIGHT TO THE WORLD we have given in 2000. By lighting your candle from ours we wish YOUR light to shine bright for the holiday season." Believe it or not my patients tell me they have every candle I have given them!! I also have a small ornament for each child which I hang on our Norfolk Island Pine tree. I use this tree throughout the year hung with various "treasures" to correspond with seasons, holidays and my themes. Actually each month I pick a "theme" and then decorate or dress up accordingly. Example, for the month of March the theme is "plant a seed for chiropractic" We attach seed packets to my business cards. For every patient visit, a seed packet is chosen which the patient keeps with the promise to give the card to someone who isn't a patient thus "planting seeds". Also, both staff and myself dress up in Farmer Brown outfits every Friday to reinforce the theme. I even moved my adjusting tables outside on the prettiest and warmest day and my patients LOVED it!! I appreciate your newsletter and hope these suggestions will be of value to others. Yours in wellness, Dr. Janet Taylor, Knoxville, Tn.
