ANOTHER NATIONAL VICTORY FOR CHIROPRACTORS 11/22/02 ARLINGTON, VA (Chiro Wire) President Bush signed into law yet again, legislation in favor of chiropractors that allows them to participate in a federally funded student loan reimbursement program. Pushed by the American Chiropractic Association, the new Health Care Safety Net Improvement Act (S. 1553) allows doctors of chiropractic to participate in the National Health Service Corps¼ reimbursement program for a three-year pilot trial. The NHSC grants certain health care professionals who deliver primary care services in „medically underserved¾ geographic areas, reimbursement for student loans, according to ACA. The new law follows close behind legislation requiring chiropractic care in the Department of Defense and the Department of Veteran Affairs health care systems. „This is another significant victory for the chiropractic profession,¾ says James Dewards, chairman of ACA. „It sends a strong signal that chiropractic care should be considered an essential element in the deliver of health care in this nation.¾
