If you are not adding new ideas or procedures within your office, expect enthusiasm to wane. Any machine, and your office needs to work as smoothly as a well-oiled machine, requires movement or like joints in the spine, they deteriorate. Your staff will sense the sluggish nature of the practice and your patients will ultimately receive less spark and attention with each visit. It eventually shows and wears your practice down. Malaise creeps in after a few weeks of low statistics, when bills begin to pile up, when new patients seem to go the DC down the street and when insurance or patient payments seem overwhelmingly poor. You get the idea, it¹s a place we rather not be in, hopelessness and low self esteem follows. The answer is quite simple, diversify, within the walls of your philosophy, reach out to provide more. The answer often is a change of adjusting technique. A whole world of innovative protocols are out there and suited to your patients needs. If a boost is needed, try a new technique. The renewed interest and results often stimulates enthusiasm and livens the office. The answer may be in further diagnostic procedures. The fun of doctoring is related to the detective in us. Searching for causes and ruling ideas in or out often stimulates life and freshens the practice air. The answer may be in patient education. Attempting to reach your patients and community with the story of chiropractic often leads to a very refreshing day. I don¹t know about you, but after every patient workshop, I feel energized and ready for another one. The answer may be in public relations and marketing. The fact that you are the catalyst for practice growth is often rewarding and an ego boost. Creating community alliances and reaching out to help others is always rewarding. Tell me, how can a practice be despondent when action is progressing and you are on a role. This weekend, I will be teaching six hours during the Atlanta Fernandez Seminar, to both doctors and staff, a diverse way to manage and grow a practice. No magic, just ideas that may spark and spike some interest. A thought that stretches your comfort zones and begs you to explore and widen ideas and skills. The fact new or renewed focus is present often stimulates enthusiasm and jump starts a practice needing a kick in the butt. The same holds true whether you just started in this marvelous career or you are a veteran like me diversity is the spice of practice life Have a Great Day Dr. M PS.
