Discouraging Words Ever wonder why some chiropractors succeed handsomely while others don't? Ever wonder why some staff members get with the program from day one while others never get it right? Ever wonder why some patients seem to refer and follow through with maintenance care while others are a pain in the butt? Ever wonder why insurance payments are less these days while your business costs are more? Ever wonder why your bills keep piling up while savings .. what's that? Well, I wonder that too. Fortunately for me, I was mentored early in my career by a sage of frugalness who planted seeds of professional and personal cost saving and sane spending as well as encouragement and solutions towards a successful and fun practice life. This is the crux and the answer to the issues written above. The end product of a great meal is the by- product of proper ingredients. If you start your practice day as you did the day before, there is little room to grow. The seeds sown yesterday should be ready for a bountiful harvest the next. So, if there are lingering issues, such as staff needing tweaking or educating, get to work. If patients seems to disappear before you had a chance to lock them in, get to work educating them and fertilizing your growing garden of community health with referrals and networking programs. If insurance seems less satisfying, hone your financial options and scripts to express the truth to patients and let them decide how best to pay for your services. If you come from a source of truth and trust, they will choose wisely. While a chiropractic student, did you feel your teachers geared you towards success or put the fear of failure in your veins? While a professional, did your colleagues help you sustain stable growth or did they perpetuate more of the same? Did you spend hard earned revenue to learn tricks of the trade traveling from seminar to seminar only to trade the tricks for less treats? Doctors, are you tired of chasing your tail in circles because of a few discouraging words or feeling unfulfilled? I hope not. It's been awhile since I taught my class at Life, a class that usually started at 7 am and was full of students, whether they liked it or not, being encouraged to have that Smart Start in practice while given the tools to succeed with my Smart Start Book. I did my part having them leave the school with some encouraging words. I hope teachers within our institutions of higher learning are helping their students merge reality with sanity while providing the tools to beat negative statistics with solutions and encouraging words. I hope we can depend on them to encourage our future cadre of student/doctors to be strong enough to sustain our honored profession into a turbulent healthcare environment. Students and practicing doctors need encouraging words. Doctor, as you drive to and from work today look around. How many people can benefit from a chiropractic adjustment? How many people in the church nearby have people sitting in the pews requiring their full wellness potential enhanced with your specific gifted adjustments? How many teachers standing all day in the school close to your office needs your attention as well as the policeman, fireman, postman, and the candlestick maker? They all do. There is no limit to potential patients and no limits to those that come through your threshold once you tell them the simple truth about chiropractic the story of Life and Health. If they can repeat it to others, you'll have a fun, practical and profitable practice. There are no limits of new patients, just limitation of your vision and ability to tell the Chiropractic Story. Regardless of insurance or the lack thereof, people need our care. Regardless of the media harping on the future of healthcare, people need our care. Regardless of fearful banter from some within our profession harping on the negative, people need our care. Get the picture, PEOPLE NEED US! Don't be discouraged by those lacking vision.
