Atlanta DC needs a portable drop table immediately E-mail message this week .. dilemma Friends .. we face a dilemma and we are collectively the reason. Listening to a discussion this past weekend with my non chiropractic friends .. I realized the depth this dilemma has reached. The discussion involved our species survival with the enhancement of our immune system via reduced stress. No less than another international conference was proposed to discuss this theory and money and monographs would written to secure funding after reaching an agreement. Serious heads within the medical community will delve into psychopharmaceuticals as the base answer to manipulate various chemicals of life. Others will link natural lifestyle and wholeness as an alternative. But .. zero time or thought would be considered towards the subluxation complex and the reality it brings to the equation. Once again managing the effect rather than correcting the cause will be the end result. Herein lies our dilemma. These e-mails span the chiropractic horizon from the mild mannered majority to adherents on either end of the philosophical plane. Personally .. I appreciate having a goal to reach with each patient and eliminating or reducing the ramifications of the subluxation complex is a worthy endeavor. Whether you adjust to eliminate pain or to regain health and wellness is but a small pixel in the bigger picture. Herein also lies our dilemma. First .. there has not been a day within my 22 years of practice that I have questioned my reason choosing chiropractic as a profession and mission. I may have wavered a time or two during political battles or defending my mission and chiropractic purpose .. but .. not a day has passed when I did not ponder the ultimate good if only a fraction of people knew what we do. Do we need to propose an International Conference of Chiropractors to proclaim what proper and specific adjustments can actually accomplish .. if yes .. should we hire WFW (World Federation of Wrestling) referees to keep the peace? Can we be included within an international conference on wellness and health with a unified voice or must we bicker amongst each other and never receive the respect we deserve or funding necessary to assist with our species survival? Herein lies our ultimate dilemma. Most of our patients come with an ache or pain some in dire distress but all have multiple components of the subluxation complex. Yes .. we can assist with lifestyle advice .. proper nutrition .. increased and proper exercise .. weight control .. ergonomics .. stress reduction but as these negative aspects of wellness effect their health we must also adjust for the health of it as well. As I attempted to join in this discussion .. I thought of the futility to include chiropractic in the mix. We are so scatter brained in thought and deed that any attempt to unify and be within the same playing field for world attention and respect is ultimately lost. Before you get too defensive by this e-mail and find your philosophical and technical feathers ruffled .. just give it some thought. The dilemma is within and all about us. Maybe the answer lies with the written message on the back of a recent Cobb County race shirt. This 10K is known as one of the hardest in the country because it has one hill after another. Those familiar with Cobb County the race runs from the Galleria to White Waters on Hwy. 41. Many racers stay away on Labor Day because of the difficult course and thereby the message on the shirt .. which reads: Yeah, that¼s right .. the course with the tough hills .. We¼ve got hills.. Life¼s got hills .. What are you going to do? Walk around or face the challenge? We have such a gift and this huge dilemma .. let¼s face the challenge together for a change and leave the dilemmas behind. Have a Great Day Dr. M Postings: Practice for sale ..
