Drs. Theresa & Stuart Warner welcome you to grow your pediatric practice with the following list. The Famous ChiroPediatric Top 7 The Top Seven Reasons to Charge an Appropriate fee for Children. Teaching forty weekends around the world each year, I see one of the biggest incongruencies in practice is that chiropractors do not charge an appropriate fee for a child's care. Children that are adjusted for free are not taken care of as real patients. Most of the time if they happen to be with the parents they jump on the table and get adjusted and if they are not with the parents they are not adjusted and not asked where they are. Children should be taken care of as real patients. That means the parents fill out a pediatric history form and has the proper follow up questions asked, the child has a proper pediatric exam performed to detect subluxation, they are recommended an adjusting schedule that is strictly adhered to, and the child has regular progress exams performed to monitor and update the correction of the vertebral subluxation. When you provide superior service and communicate the extraordinary value chiropractic offers, parents will be more committed to their children's healthcare than their own and will pay more for it as well. I think that you should charge more for children's care than adults, because it is more valuable, although we charge the same for children and adults. 1. They have to pay all their other doctors. (pediatrician, dentist, optometrist, etc.) Why would your service (time and talent) be any less important than the other doctors? 2. There is nothing more valuable than helping to remove nerve interference from a child's growing spine and watch that child strive to reach their optimum genetic potential on every level of human existence. 3. The perception of the value for chiropractic care for children will skyrocket. Parents will be more committed to the care, value it more, and refer more families that pay as well. 4. When you start charging an appropriate fee for children, your standards, responsibility and your accountability will strengthen. When parents are paying you for their children's chiropractic care, you will have to provide superior service as well as provide better patient education. When you are collecting a fee, you will have to walk your talk and deliver more than you promise. 5. The day that you start charging for children is the day that you will have the privilege to care for and serve more children in your practice. Your pediatric volume will increase quickly. 6. Parents will feel better that they are contributing to their children's chiropractic care. Many parents that bring their children in for free will end up leaving because they feel out of exchange or that they are taking advantage of you. Give people the dignity that they need by allowing them to pay for their children's care. 7. You have a business and a business needs to earn a profit in order to keep providing a service. We are fortunate to serve for the right reasons. Although we enjoy receiving rewards for our efforts, watching children's lives transform before your eyes is awesome and the financial rewards should not be the primary motivating factor. Collecting a fee for a pediatric visit must be a standard policy in every office. Parents pay thousands of dollars for medical care for their children, which the end result most of the time is sick kids. I understand your heart and spirit when you want to provide care for children for free but if your practice is comprised of less than thirty percent children, there is a lot more that you can be doing. Most of you are not charging for children because of self-esteem issues or lack of confidence or fear of rejection. Ouch!!! If a single parent is in a financial hardship position that is a whole different story. Free Tuesdays or Saturdays for kids rarely works and should not be a substitution for providing superior service and communicating the value of chiropractic care for children with a consistent patient education program. Charging for children is naturally right and you will be glad once you arrive at this consciousness. P.S. Kids Day America/International registration ends on Tuesday February 29th.
