Q: Thanks for the e-mail. The key is persistence and realizing that there are many fish in the sea. First concentrate on your patients .. where they work and what their position is. Can they provide a packet of information to their manager or HR department. If they are management .. an they organize a small class for their group and maybe their friends. If possible can they sponsor a "Lunch and Learn" Is there a support group in the company hat can sponsor you like TLC in AT&T. Does the bldg. have an atrium where you can place a table and provide screenings or mere information and possibly take BP and better yet team with a massage therapist that will charge $1 a minute a massage. This will open some doors. Going door to door has worked for years in sales .. they will tell you it is a numbers game some you win some you lose. Begin a campaign of sending newsletters to local corporations concerning ergonomics and wellness .. try to determine the name of the person in charge or even the managers and supervisors .. get their fax or e-mail numbers and use this vehicle to communicate. In other words keep trying. Once you get one hit it'll go from there Have a Great Day Dr. M A: I have been really hitting the PR scene big time in Pittsburgh. I have been calling and trying to get a hold of people to get in and do talks. My pitches are okay, but I am having a very difficult time getting the human resource people to return my calls and when they do or if I get in touch with them they reject me on one of three accounts: 1. They have either a company that specializes in doing these ergonomic workshops for them. 2. They only do the health screenings in conjunction with Blue Cross/Blue Shield mobile truck and no other docs are allowed because then every doc would want to do this and it wouldn't be fair to let Dr.X in and not Dr.Z not in to do the fair or screening. 3. They are just plain not interested and don't know me from Adam etc.... I know, if they could just see me that I would be able to do the program. I am much better in person as most people are, plus, it is harder to reject people in person than on the phone. What about going door to door for the larger companies and trying to drop information off / brochures off on your ergo workshops and health news letter etc...?? Is this a good idea or look like an act of desperation. I did this once already and without success as the security people wouldn't call the HR people and said they would drop it off for me. What is your take on this? No one is in with these big companies in Pitt! I can get in and develop repor with the big wigs and then I am in and set with a flow and constant stream of corporate patients. I just need the code to crack into the place. Let me know what you think.
